New infrastructure projects for APEC 2017
In preparation for the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit which will take place in Da Nang in October 2017, some new infrastructure projects will be implemented in the city.
In detail, 3.2 trillion VND from the central government’s budget will be spent on upgrading the Da Nang International Airport and constructing a new terminal there. Construction is scheduled to start in December 2015 and be completed by September 2017.
Covering an area of 44,000m2, the new 2-storey terminal will be able to handle 4 million passengers per year, and it will be expanded in the future to handle 20 million passengers by 2030.

In addition, the airport's existing terminal will be installed with more modern equipment, including extra skybridges connecting the terminal building to the aircraft, freight transport lines, and scanners.
The city authorities have also sought approval from the Ministry of Planning and Investment to upgrade the city’s existing International Exhibition Fair Centre into an international convention centre at a cost of 550 million VND, funded from the central government’s budget. The upgrade is scheduled to begin later this year and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017.
The city will also upgrade some of the city’s urban infrastructure including the Thanh Nien (Youth) Park and some local major streets. This work will be covered by the city’s budget.
The Thien Thai Joint Stock Company will construct a convention centre as part of its Eden international urban area and tourism complex project in Son Tra District’s Tho Quang Ward.
The 150 billion VND, 3,922m2, 3-storey centre will have a seating capacity of 1,500, and it will be used for the APEC CEO Summit and banquets during the event. The construction of the centre is scheduled to start in September this year and be completed within a year.
The Hon Ngoc Chau A Company will develop its seaside tourism area project in Ngu Hanh Son District which will be used for activities on the sidelines of the 25th APEC Summit.
Viet Nam’s leading realty conglomerate Vingroup will construct a 1.5 trillion VND international hospital at the end of 30 April street in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Bac Ward.
