Viet Nam, France share experience in urban planning
A seminar on urban planning took place in Can Tho City on 15 September, and a number of experts from Vietnamese localities and Ile-de-France region of France attended.

The event was jointly organised by the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Ile-de-France Region.
As part of the 10th cooperation conference between Vietnamese and French localities, the seminar gave an insight into environmental problems in Ha Noi, space planning and construction in Da Nang, urban and regional planning in Ho Chi Minh City, planning for sustainable development in Lao Cai and Aquitaine region.
In his speech, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan said Viet Nam-France cooperation in urban development will be accelerated in the near future for the sustainable development of their localities, through which, they will share experience in coping with climate change and issues faced by urban areas.
Architect and urban planner Laurent Perrin from the Institute for Urban Planning and Development of Paris Ile-de-France Region said environmental challenges faced by the Ha Noi capital region also encompass natural and cultural heritages, agriculture and forest land management, pollution and flooding risks.
Several opinions suggested zoning off “buffer spaces” and ecological corridors in urban areas, as well as building “green corridors” into natural parks.
