As soon as receiving complaints from residents living Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Nam Ward about unpleasant odour emitted from the Da Son Cannel, the ward authorities yesterday joined forces with local relevant agencies to conduct an investigation.

As a result, the investigatiors identified illegal dumper who is 22-year-old Quach Van Sang who is temporarily residing in the ward.

On Wednesday morning, the investigatiors detected that Sang drove a septic pumper truck to dump a total of 2,730kg of used lubricant into a public drainage system on Tran Duc Street.

Sang admitted to having illegally discharged such a large amount of used lubricant into the environment which had previously been collected from a company located in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park.

The septic pumper truck is owned by the Pham Van Manh company headquartered on Tran Duc.

The offended vehicle and the driver’s driving licence and related documents were all temporarily seized.

Meanwhile, the company is required to remedy the negative impacts of this environmental incident of deep concern. The illegally-discharged oil is being collected to ensure environmental sanitation.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
