In an effort to effectively implement Da Nang’s key campaign ‘2018: The Year of Investment Promotion’, the municipal authorities have given top priority to handling difficulties facing the businesses, and accelerating investment promotion activities.

Since the start of this year, the city authorities have granted business registration certificates to a total of 4,776 new domestic and foreign businesses, branches and representative offices, with a total registered charter capital of nearly 17,000 billion VND. In addition, investment licences have been granted for 106 new FDI projects totalling over 150 million USD, up 2.1 times against same period last year.

Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Tran Phuoc Son said these positive results were mainly attributed to the great efforts of the city authorities in organising many direct dialogues with the business community, and issuing numerous preferential loan policies for important socio-economic development projects. These effective measures not only created favourable conditions for businesess to operate well, but they also helped to attract even more domestic and foreign investors.

In particular, according to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, the industrial production index, over the past 9 months, climbed by 8.2% % against the same period last year. Noticeably, the export turnover rose by 12%, especially in the aspects of textiles and garments, electronic components, seafood and rubber.

Director of municipal Department of Industry and Trade Phan Van Kha pointed put to the fact that like domestic businesses, foreign–invested ones are also in desperate need of premises for their production purposes. In recent months, the city authorities have considered the real demand for land amongst domestic and foreign businesses operating in the city so that the allocation of land for them will be conducted in an even more effective manner.

This local government agency will implement a project for developing new industrial clusters in the city by 2020, with a vision towards 2030, with the intention of helping to address this matter of deep concern regarding land for production.

As for trade promotion activities, the successfully-organised International East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Trade and Tourism Fair 2018 was hailed as an important event in promoting demand-supply connection. Also in the spotlight of this event were 31 projects supporting the application of machinery and equipment, and advanced technology transferring into industrial production activities at local enterprises.

The Da Nang-located Diamond Glass JSC was one of the first priority businesses in the city to benefit from a programme for supporting enterprises to promote their technological innovation early this month.

Also, all updated information necessary for enterprises on such issues as labour safety regulations, fire and explosion prevention and environmental protection is sent to the company on time via e-mail.

However, Mr Ha Quoc Dung, the company’s Director raised his concern over the situation that many industrial establishments in Da Nang are encountering some difficulties in recruiting workers. Given that fact, heed should be paid to offering training courses, especially for graduates from vocational training schools. In fact, many enterprises have no choice but to recruit workers from such other central regional localities as Quang Nam and Quang Ngai.

Mr Le Tri Hai, the Vice Chairman of the municipal Young Entrepreneurs’ Association cum the CEO of the city-based Toan Cau Xanh company (Green Global), remarked, in order to optimise the investment and business environment, the city should paid special heed to ‘investment security’, but most importantly, consistent policies are needed.

In the software industry, an inspection is one of the most common sorts of review practices found in software projects with the goal of the inspection is to identify defects. Hai added that it is a good idea to effectively apply such useful model in State management mechanisms to ensure that once a certain policy is issued, it will be implemented, tested and evaluated.  Hence, valuable lessons will be gained through the implementation process.

With regard to tourism, it is necessary to uphold mutual support amongst businesses to create better tourism products. A question raised here is how to attract even more visitors from both home and abroad, inspire them to extend their stay periods and increase their spending here, return later, and recommend this attractive destination to others.

Director of the city’s branch of Vietravel Doan Hai Dang remarked that businesses have always hoped that the city authorities would create legal corridors and accelerate the opening of new direct flights connecting to even more destinations worldwide.

“It is highly effective that more local businesses will be facilitated to join tourism promotion events in foreign countries to introduce their products to the international markets, thereby attracting more visitors to the city”, he noted.
