Launching many new products

In 2024, Da Nang has certain advantages as its tourism brand have been continuously affirmed through prestigious international titles and awards in tourism. For the rest of this year, the city will organise many major international events and deploy new tourism products to meet the increasing needs of tourists.

However, tourism workers also believe that 2024 is witnessing many difficulties and challenges due to the global economic difficulties, strong domestic and international destination competition, the trend of key international tourist markets moving to look for new destinations. Some direct international routes connecting the European, Australian, American and Indian markets have yet to operate because of some difficulties. Therefore, the tourism industry is working with relevant local agencies to create conditions to help overcome difficulties, invest in upgrading and renewing products and services to attract customers.

According to Director of the Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh, the city's tourism industry is mobilising resources to create new product groups in a bid to increase the length of stay of visitors. In particular, in the night-time tourism product group, a plan to pilot the extended Bach Dang walking street and night-time tourism services on Nguyen Van Troi Bridge and at a public park at the eastern bank of the foot of the bridge, as well as develop more new and unique night-time tourism products such as festival programmes on the both banks of the Han River, promising to bring a breath of fresh air to locals and visitors to the city.

At the same time, the city will organise night-time tour programmes on the basis of connecting tourist attractions and night-time travel experiences, launch waterway tours to admire the beauty of Da Nang at night, deploy Phase 2 of An Thuong tourist street, propose more unique new night-time tourism product ideas by mobilising investment from the community or the city’s budget to cover the organising cost of festivals and events.

In the culinary tourism product group, the city will implement a plan to develop cuisine into a unique tourism product according to the roadmap approved by the municipal People's Committee.

In the immediate future, focus will be placed on surveying and building a map of Da Nang cuisine and organising communication events, support training in preparing regional dishes, organising culinary competitions, launching startups, honouring culinary addresses, and standardising food safety throughout the city.

In the wedding tourism product group, it is necessary to organize surveys and announce check-in points and wedding venues with many segments for domestic and international guests, build a wedding service supply chain and promulgate policies to promotewedding tourism.

Proactivity from businesses

Creating new products is not only the task of the muniicpal government and localities, but also the proactive participation of businesses and associations in the city.

According to Mr. Dang Nhu Da Thanh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Branch of Vietravel, the products Da Nang plans to focus on in the near future are wedding tourism and culinary tourism. However, more attention needs to be paid to environmental issues, traffic safety and utility services. The city can call on more investors to construct eye-catching and convenient public restrooms to serve tourists.

Meanwhile, the General Director of the Viet An Group Nguyen Thanh Tam said that when offering packages or coupons or vouchers for customers, the tourism industry or businesses should have apps or information channels to know whether the number of guests has used those services or not and which businesses exploit and use those vouchers most effectively.

Da Nang should also pay more attention to exploiting more effectively therapeutic tourism and health care services because this is a great advantage of Da Nang when there are many guaranteed treatment and health care facilities but many of which have yet to be connected with tourism activities, especially international visitors.

Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung said that, in order to attract visitors to Da Nang, businesses and associations are very unanimous and stand side by side with the city's tourism activities. This year is a very difficult year when flight routes are reduced and air ticket prices are high and scarce. This is a huge challenge for travel businesses.

“The association will meet with businesses to discuss a very large group of stimulus products in the upcoming tourism stimulus announcement programme to create a media effect to show that Da Nang continuously has run many attractive programmes.”, said Dung.
