SHB DN’s coach Le Huynh Duc has already left the squad right after Viet Nam’s top-tier V League 2017 season ended.

Over the past decade, Duc has wholeheartedly made his great dedication for the team’s achievements.

Most notably, Duc and his squad won the V-League title in 2009 and 2012, one National Cup gold in 2009 and one Super Cup trophy in 2012.  He also led Da Nang to the quarterfinals of the AFC Cup in 2010.

This year, under the leadership of this talented coach, the team also claimed a bronze medal at the National Cup.

However, during this year’s V-League season, unexpected injuries to key players have somewhat dashed the team’s hopes.  In the end, SHB DN were only in 9th place on 33 points.

SHB DN’s fans have always wanted that a Da Nang-born talent will become the team’s coach.  However, assistant coaches Dao Quang Hung and Cong Thin donot have enough experience to lead the squad at the tough league seasons.

Another problem is that SHB DN is currently facing a severe shortage of young talented players.

In reality, soon after this year’s league season concluded, at least 4 players terminated their contract with the team, namely defender Ezequiel David Britez, midfielder Gramoz Kurtaj, captain Vu Phong and midfielder Huu Phuc.

In particular, 32-year-old top striker Do Merlo is not likely to shine at next year’s V-League season because he is showing his age.

The team, therefore, are now in desperate need of 2 foreign stars who are expected to make a vital role in promoting the squad’ strength in preparation for next year’s tournaments.

To make the problem worse, some of the young players from the local club's youth training programmes have yet to satisfy the strict requirements of the coaching board.

To address the above issues, SHB DN will further develop the squad by recruiting some new domestic and foreign players in preparation for the new V-League season to fill the gaps left by the above stars.

Hopefully, future positive changes in the squad will help SHB DN overcome their current difficulties, and gain even more success from the new league season.
