The city’s positive result mentioned above demonstrates that local athletics sector has impressively bounced back after a period of stalled development, and that the city has succeeded in developing new athletics events in a bid to avoid being left behind by other contenders nationwide.

In particular, 2 new national records were made at this competition.

In detail, Nguyen Duc Son from Ha Noi set a new record in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 52.41secs, beating the competion’s record of 53.15secs set in 2015.

The other record belonged to the Binh Duong men’s 4x 800m team with a time of 7:43.86. They won the gold medal and broke the old record set by Quang Ninh of 7:58.50 in 2009.
