To make the holidays more meaningful, Da Nang plans to organise many unique cultural and artistic programmes, creating a joyful atmosphere and meeting the entertainment needs of the public.

Specifically, the art exhibition entitled ‘April Sunshine’ is taking place at the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum, 78 Le Duan Street until May 16.

Co-organised by the museum and the city’s Fine Arts Association, the event aims to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024).

On display at the exhibition are 43 works with diverse content, materials and creative techniques by 37 painters who are members and collaborators of the Fine Arts Association, living and doing artistic activities in Da Nang.

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Le, a student of the Da Nang Tourism College, shared that "I am especially impressed with the sculptures at the exhibition. The sculptors' way of shaping and mixing colours is very ingenious and creative, but still brings an extremely harmonious whole. In addition, the paintings are very beautiful and colorful, creating a perfect art space for everyone to enjoy and check-in".

Besides, art units citywide are scheduled to host many performances to serve the public.

In particular, the city's Culture and Cinema Center will organize performances of 'bai choi', traditional musical instrument concerts, and street music on weekends before, during and after the holiday.

Notably, a street carnival with the participation of hundreds of actors and musicians will return to serve people and tourists along Tran Hung Dao Street, Son Tra District, on the evening of April 27.

The Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theater will provide free programmes for people with meritorious services and revolutionary cadres, and local residents of An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District.

A Trung Vuong Theatre-hosted special art programme themed "The Sound of April" will take place at the APEC Sculpture Park on April 27 evening.

Director of the Trung Vuong Theater Tran Van Hao said that the forthcoming programme is expected to be divided into 3 parts, called 'The residue remains forever ', 'Homeland Songs of Joy', and 'Sounds of a New Day'.

Additionally, the programme will feature performances praising the beautiful life and development achievements of Da Nang after liberation, hoping to bring the public many unforgettable emotions.

A wide range of attractive arts programmes will be held across districts, including a general art programme on the evening of April 30 and 'bai choi' performances on the evening of May 1 at the Ha Khe Park in Thanh Khe District; an open dance sport competition on April 20 in Hai Chau District; a street music programme entitled 'Sing with me' on April 21; the 29th Artistic Photo Festival of the South Central and Central Highlands at the APEC Sculpture Park until May 2; the "Proud Melody" programme on April 27 and 28; and a photo exhibition featuring the beauty of Son Tra District from April 26 - 30 at the foot of the Nguyen Van Troi Pedestrian Bridge.

Director of Son Tra District Culture and Sports Center Vu The He said that on display at the photo exhibition featuring the beauty of Son Tra District will be 100 outstanding photos of nature and aspects of life in the district, selected through beautiful photo contests from 2021-2023.

Meanwhile, the cultural programme "Proud Melody" will feature performances of diverse genres praising the Party, Uncle Ho, and the revolutionary traditions of the city's army and people.

According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports Ha Vy, cultural and artistic programmes and activities in celebration of the April 30 and May 1 holiday tend to focus more on community exchanges with residents and tourists.

Aside from the abovementioned activities, the unit has reported to the municipal People's Committee to request a policy to organize activities to celebrate the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7) and President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19).

The highlights will be an arts programme to celebrate the 134th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh scheduled for May 19 at the Trung Vuong Theater; a film week of Dien Bien Phu Victory and President Ho Chi Minh at Le Do Cinema; and the "Geneva Agreement" contest at the Da Nang Museum.
