Parliamentary delegations begin arriving in Ha Noi for IPU-132

About 30 delegations from foreign parliaments and international organisations arrived in Ha Noi as of March 25 for the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU-132), according to the Organising Committee’s Sub-committee on Reception-Event.

On March 25 alone, the IPU-132 sub-committees welcomed more than 20 delegations, including that from Uganda led by Speaker of the Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, Zambia led by Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini, the Philippines led by President of the Senate Drilon Franklin, and Lithuania led by Vice Speaker of the Parliament Kirkilas Gediminas.

Delegates from Algeria, Chile, Fiji, Micronesia, the Netherlands, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, and Venezuela also arrived in Ha Noi.

The IPU-132, themed “Sustainable Development Goals: Turning Words into Action”, will be held from March 28 to April 1. It is the biggest multilateral diplomatic event ever held in Viet Nam.

The State-run Nhan dan (People) daily reported that by March 25, 166 IPU member countries, 10 observers, and 1,450 delegates registered to participate in the IPU-132.

The event is scheduled to include 67 sessions and 66 bilateral meetings.
