Deputy Secretary Tri congratulated the commissions for External Relations of the 2 countries on successfully organising the 9th joint conference in Da Nang in July to share working experiences between the National Assembly (NA) Offices of Viet Nam and Laos.

The host happily briefed his guests on positive results from the multi-faceted cooperation programmes between Da Nang and Laotian localities over recent years, thereby helping to accelerate the socio-economic progress of these foreign localities.

To date, Da Nang has provided training courses for over 1,000 public servants and students from southern central localities of Laos.  The city has also entered into a total of 30 cooperation agreements with Laotian localities.

In reply, Ms Sayachac thanked the Da Nang authorities for giving assistance to Laotian southern central localities over recent years.  She hoped that the Party, government and people of Da Nang, and those of Viet Nam as a whole, would ensure the success of the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) next month.

Mr Quan took the opportunity to highly praised the authorities and people of Da Nang for making their great efforts to develop their city into a socio- economic hub in the central region.  In particular, he also spoke highly of the city’s diplomacy activities over recent years.

Despite not bordering Laos, Da Nang has actively become involved in promoting bilateral ties with Laotian localities.  This, thereby, has helped to deepen the long-lasting traditional friendship and solidarity between the 2 countries.  Thanks to such great efforts, the city totally deserves to be chosen by the national government to host the upcoming AELW.
