Projects for hosting activities of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week (AELW) 2017 in Da Nang in November last year have been used effectively after this large-scale international event, thereby helping to accelerate the city’s socio-economic progress.

Last year, the Da Nang International Exhibition Fair Centre in Cam Le District’s Khue Trung Ward was temporarily converted into the International Media Centre (IMC) of the AELW at an upgrade cost of 178.8 billion VND.  The 3-storey Centre accommodated a total of over 2,000 reporters from domestic and international media agencies during the Week.

According to Mr Le Ngoc Thanh, the Director of the Da Nang Markets and Fairs Exhibition Management Company, after the APEC Week, the International Exhibition Fair Centre hosted a 6-day fair featuring high-quality Vietnamese goods and organic agricultural products.

Between 1 and 7 February 2018, the Lunar New Year Spring Fair 2018 will take place at this venue.

Most notably, the site will host the ASEAN Trade and Tourism Fair 2018 between 25 and 31 May.  The regional-level event is expected to see the participation of 300 businesses in total.  Of these, 200 are domestic firms, whilst the remainder are from the ASEAN member countries, China, Japan, and South Korea.

In the coming time, focus will be on appealing for even more organisations and individuals from both home and aboard to organise events at the modern, fully-equipped venue.

Located on 2 September Street, the Tien Son Sports Arena, where many events took place in the framework of the APEC summit week, has also been being used efficiently.

The venue hosted the APEC CEO Summit Gala Dinner on 9 November 2017 which was attended by the leaders of a total of 2,000 large domestic and foreign businesses.

Between 22 and 24 November last year, this venue hosted the ‘Technological Supply-Demand Links and Its Performance’ programme (DaNang TechDemo 2017 within the framework of the national ‘Technological Applications, Transfer and Innovations 2017’ event.

From 9 - 11 February 2018, the Viet Nam Circus Federation-organised Circus Week programme to welcome in the Tet Festival will be held at this site.

Most notably, the opening ceremony of the 1st International Theatre Institute (ITI) World Performing Arts Festival will be held at the Tien Son Sports Arena on 1 July 2018 to mark the 70th birthday of ITI.

The first-ever global event is expected to attract 20 foreign troupes with around 1,000 artistes in total from 90 ITI member nations, plus 10 domestic troupes.

Following its successful hosting of many events within the framework of the APEC Week, the Ariyana Convention and Exhibition Centre (ADECC) to the south of the Furama Villas Danang is now continuing serving many conferences, seminars and multifunctional events.

Mr Nguyen Duc Quynh, Deputy General Director of the Furama Resort Danang, said the Centre is now focusing on fostering the progress of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism, which might generate high revenues to the tourism sector.

Other key infrastructure facilities serving the APEC summit week have also been being used effectively.

Included are the APEC Park near the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, a tunnel taking Tran Phu under the busy junction with Le Duan, the new international passenger terminal at the Da Nang International Airport, the Vinmec Da Nang International Hospital in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Bac Ward.
