Dangerous weather warnings for East Sea, with flooding in central region
According to the Central Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a dangerous weather system has formed in the East Sea.
Due to the effects of enhanced cold air combined with high turbulence in the easterly wind condition, the Da Nang area and elsewhere along the central coast is experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The thunderstorms sometimes produce strong winds and whirlwinds with little or no advanced warning.
It is predicted that the cold air will continue to spread southwards whilst the high turbulence in the easterly wind condition will continue over the next few days. Therefore, the coastal localities between Da Nang and Binh Thuan Province will have moderate to heavy rainfall and north-easterly winds at levels 2/3.
The water levels in rivers from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa provinces are forecast to continue to rise. This is likely to cause flash floods and landslides in the region's mountainous areas, and flooding in the delta areas.
