Addressing the event, the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, Mr Truong Cong Dinh, said “The contest is part of activities to mark the 20 years since Da Nang’s recognition as a centrally-governed city on 1 January 1997.  It aims to highlight the city’s remarkable achievements during its renewal process.  It attracted many professional and amateur writers from the city and other localities nationwide. In particular, Le Thi Thu Thanh from Quang Tri Province sent the highest number of entries with 6, whilst the oldest writer was 90-year-old Nguyen Xuan Thieu from Da Nang”.

Speaking at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman and Head of the event’s organising board Dang Viet Dung praised the success of the contest.  He added that contestants focused on introducing the remarkable achievements and innovations of the city over the past 2 decades, as well as advertising the image of a civilised, modern, peaceful and liveable city to domestic and international friends.
