On Thursday, a delegation of Da Nang leaders, led by municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung, visited social policy families in Thanh Hoa Province.  This visit is part of a series of activities in recognition of the 70th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (27 July).

The delegation offered incense and laid wreaths at the Ham Rong Martyrs’ Cemetery.  In addition, they presented 30 charity houses and 40 saving books, totalling 2.2 billion VND, to social policy families in the province.

Vice Chairman Trung expressed his deep gratitude to the province’s Vietnamese heroic mothers, war invalids, and families of martyrs, for their great sacrifices for the reunification of the country.  He also took the opportunity to thank provincial residents for their active help for the people of Quang Nam and Da Nang during the anti-US resistance war.  He added that over 1,000 heroic martyrs from the province laid down their lives in Quang Nam and Da Nang for the nation’s unification.

On the occasion, the delegation also gave a charity house, worth 60 million VND, to 94-year-old Nguyen Thi Canh, the mother of a martyr.

Also on Thursday, Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee Chairwoman Dang Thi Kim Lien, and leaders of the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, visited elderly people living at the city’s care centre for those who had made great contributions to the nation’s revolutionary cause.

Chairwoman Lien wished them all good health.  She asked the centre’s staff to do their utmost to uphold their responsibilities for caring for the elderly and enhance the quality of their meals.

The centre is now providing care for 58 elderly people over 80 years old, who are Vietnamese heroic mothers, former revolutionary cadres, and relatives of local martyrs.

On the same day, Chairwoman Lien paid visits to 89-year-old Hua Thi Bay and 91-year-old Trinh Thi Ke.  Both are Vietnamese heroic mothers living in Thanh Khe District.

Mrs Lien showed her gratitude and respect towards these mothers for their great devotion in the defence of the nation against invaders in the past.  She wished them good health and that they remain as bright examples for younger generations to follow.
