Over the past few days, relevant units and authorities at local level in Da Nang have simultaneously given the second booster dose, or the fourth dose, of COVID-19 vaccines to local residents.

As noted, after receiving the notice from local authorities, many residents have taken the initiative to go to ward and commune-level medical stations or district-level medical centres to get the second COVID-19 vaccine boosters to further strengthen the immune system.

Under the regulations of the Ministry of Health, COVID-19 vaccination sites must meet strict standards for storing and preserving the vaccines, be arranged to include designated areas for reception, waiting, clinical screening, vaccination rooms, post-injection monitoring rooms, and anaphylactic treatment rooms with one-way rule, be equipped with anaphylactic treatment boxes, and comply with pandemic prevention regulations.

According to local medical workers, recent days have seen a large number of people going to injection sites to receive the second COVID-19 booster shot, and the number is expected to gradually increase in the next few days. An average of 100 - 300 doses of COVID-19 vaccines are given to local residents every day.

As recommended by Vietnamese Ministry of Health, vaccination is still an important tool in COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control, thereby creating the basis and premise for safe and effective adaptation in the new normal. In fact, COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing infection, serious illness, and death.

Data released by the Medical Examination and Treatment Management Department under the Ministry of Health show that the death rate among unvaccinated people reaches 52.8%, that of people getting only one or two doses of COVID-19 vaccine 29.8%, and that of people getting three doses of COVID-19 vaccine only 7.3%.

In Viet Nam, although COVID-19 has been brought under control, hundreds of new infections are recorded every day. Currently, there is no cure for COVID-19, so vaccination is still believed to be an important tool in pandemic prevention and control efforts.
