The Women's Union chapter of An Hai Tay Ward giving gifts to needy children under the "Godmother" Programme.

In response to the "Godmother" programme launched by the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Women's Union in 2021, the Women’s Union chapter of An Hai Tay Ward has supported 23 children with a monthly financial aid of VND 500,000 per child.

Among them, there are many very pitiful situations. Some newborns become parentless and they have to live with their grandmothers.

Currently, there are many children who are not "sponsored" because they are outside the regulations, but their circumstances are also very difficult. If they do not receive timely support, they may have to drop out of school.

To make the children's path to school easier and brighter, members of the Women’s Union chapter of An Hai Tay Ward have been implemented the second phase of the "Godmother" Programme. Currently, 10 children in difficult circumstances are benefiting from the programme with a monthly financial support of VND 5000,000 each.

Aside from offering monthly financial support, members of the Women’s Union chapter regularly visit, care for, educate, and provide psychological support for needy children, as well as learn about policies that have been suitable for orphans and children in difficult circumstances in the locality.

In addition to mobilising resources to care for orphans and disadvantaged children, the Women’s Union chapter of An Hai Tay Ward has been creative in implementing the model of "Turn plastic waste into money".

Over the past two years, they have collected tens of millions of VND from the sale of waste, and money that has been redirected to orphans and children in difficult circumstances. This model not only does not put pressure on members but also helps classify waste at source and protect the environment.

Chairwoman of the Women's Union chapter of An Hai Tay Ward, Nguyen Thuy Hong My Le Dung wished that her unit will receive special attention, support and companionship of organisations, individuals, philanthropists, and businesses in the coming time so that children can have better conditions in life, and comprehensive development.
