Efficiency of Eco-Action 21 Programme
A seminar entitled “Promoting the Implementation of the Eco-Action 21 Programme in Da Nang” took place in the city on Monday. Co-organised by the municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment and the local Department of Science and Technology, the event aimed to assess the implementation of the programme’s pilot schemes.
The Eco-Action 21 programme has helped the city to establish an effective environmental management system which meets international standards, and those of Japan in particular.
Since last September, the city’s Agency for Environmental Protection, the Centre for Energy Saving and Technology Transfer Consultancy, and the Environmental Research Centre have successfully carried out environmental projects on a pilot basis.
Their focus was on recycling paper, placing pots of trees in offices, classifying rubbish, using energy-saving equipment, and many other practical activities. Thanks to these schemes, the 3 organisations reduced their year’s total power consumption by between 10% and 48% as well as saving up to 35% of the water consumption and 43% of stationery usage.
As a result, each of them saved between 1.3 and 2.5 million VND per month.
