City welcomes 1.54 domestic and foreign visitors over last 6 months
Last Friday, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held an online conference simultaneously in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang to review the nation’s tourism sector over the last 6 months, and to identify key tasks for the remaining months of this year. The event was chaired by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Hoang Tuan Anh.
Despite the current global economic downturn and political instability in some countries around the world, Viet Nam’s tourism sector has maintained a steady growth over the past 6 months.
Between January and June, the number of international tourist arrivals to Viet Nam rose by 2.6% year-on-year to hit an estimated 3.5 million. The domestic tourism sector earned an estimated 105,000 billion VND in revenue, a 23.5% year-on-year increase, and represents 53% of the year’s target.
In particular, Da Nang’s tourism sector witnessed good growth over the first half of this year. In detail, the total number of tourist arrivals to the city increased by 16.3% year-on-year to about 1.54 million, of whom 389,400 were foreigners. Most notably, there was a 94.2% year-on-year increase in the number of air passengers arriving in the city.
