The Chairman of the Da Nang Taxi Association, Mr Vo Thanh Nhan, said that local taxi fares will remain unchanged despite the recent 460 VND per litre increase in the price of petrol.

He said that although this is the 7th increase in petrol prices in the last 3 months, his association had only increased local taxi fares once, in March.

The Chairman explained that a revision of local taxi fares was always costly and time-consuming.  In addition, the city’s taxi companies are trying to keep their fares unchanged because they are seeing a significant increase in the number of customers in the city’s current peak travel season.

He noted, however, that his association would have to increase taxi fares next time there was a price increase in order to maintain profits for its members.
