As part of their working visit to Japan, some of Da Nang’s leaders and local businesspeople met on Thursday with representatives of the Marubeni Corporation.

During their reception for the visiting delegation, Marubeni’s representatives showed their interest in Da Nang’s underground metro project.

Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Chien took the opportunity to invite the corporation to visit his city to conduct a feasibility study for the metro project.  The city leader would also like their host to mobilise Japan’s ODA capital to facilitate the implementation of the 1st phase of his city’s project as soon as possible.

Maruberi is one of the largest trading corporations in Japan and  specialises in energy and transport projects.  It has implemented many metro projects in international airports worldwide, particularly those at Changi in Singapore, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and Washington DC in the USA.

In Viet Nam, Maruberi is involved in the Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant Construction project which is costing 22,260 billion VND.  Of this figure, about 18,921 billion VND is coming from Japan’s ODA capital.

Earlier in the morning of the same day, the Da Nang delegation met with the Mayor of Japan's Kawasaki City to discuss ways to promote bilateral cooperation in environmental and port aspects.

The Da Nang leaders said that they would like the Kawasaki authorities to support the implementation of the 2nd phase of the Tien Sa Port Upgrade project.
