US dollar rate increases unexpectedly
The US dollar rate on the domestic market increased unexpectedly on Thursday. By late yesterday afternoon, the black market selling rate USD to VND was 21,210 VND, an increase of 70 VND as compared with earlier that morning.
In particular, the selling and buying rates for USD at some domestic banks increased slightly after having remained unchanged for quite some time. The Vietcombank listed selling and buying prices for USD are 21,170 VND and 21,080, up 50 VND. Eximbank’s selling and buying rates are 21,210 VND and 21,140 , an increase of 70 VND, whilst ACB’s rates rose 60 VND to 21,200 VND and 21,100.
Meanwhile, the SJC gold price yesterday declined by 250,000 VND per tael, hitting its lowest level in more than a week. In Da Nang, SJC was purchasing a tael of gold for 37.7 million VND and selling at 37.920 million VND. The gap between domestic and global gold prices has kept stable at 3 million VND per tael.
