40.65 billion VND given to help local fishermen
Following national government and Da Nang authorities’ policies on supporting fishermen, the city’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has given a total of 40.65 billion VND in assistance to local fishermen over the past 3 years.
In detail, 35.83 billion VND has been spent on buying fuel to allow 144 local fishing vessels to make a total of 1,036 offshore trips, 4.26 billion VND has been spent on installing Vertex Standard VX-1700 positioning equipment in the boats, 487 million VND on funding 50% of the insurance costs of 92 boats, and 66.6 million VND on funding crewmember insurance for 833 local fishermen.
In addition, the Department has so far given nearly 10 billion VND to help build 14 high-capacity fishing vessels, 9 of which were completed in 2013 at a cost of 6 billion VND.
