Cruise ship passenger numbers rise by over 127%
Since the beginning of this year, Da Nang customs officers have handled the entry/exit procedures for 877 cargo vessels, and 110 cruise ships carrying 67,761 passengers. The number of cruise ship arrivals has risen by 39.2% year-on-year, and passenger numbers increased by 127.4%.
In addition, entry/exit procedures have been carried out for 2,951 international flights carrying 328,860 passengers, which represents a year-on-year increase of 70.5% and 87.6% respectively.
Under instructions from the city’s Customs Department, local relevant agencies have focused on combating smuggling, trading in fake goods and drugs, and commercial fraud. Top priority was also given to controlling prices, along with the import and export of major items.
During the period, the local relevant agencies have dealt with 137 cases of smuggling and trade fraud with a total goods value of over 460 million VND. In detail, they found 19 violations involving smuggling and the illegal transportation of goods across borders, 22 cases of the illegal transportation of drugs, and 96 administrative violations.
