September CPI up 0.69%

Da Nang’s consumer price index (CPI) in September increased 0.69% as compared with the previous month.  Urban areas saw a 0.7% increase whilst it was 0.54% in rural areas.

In detail, the highest increase during the month was in education, at 7.19%.  Of this, tuition fees at private pre-education schools rose by 9.77%, at intermediate schools by 12.73%, at colleges by 14.15%, and at universities by 9.26%.  The prices of transportation declined by 0.41%, whilst post and telecommunications fell by 0.15%.

The city’s CPI in the past 9 months shows an increase of 8.66% year-on-year.  Of this, tobacco, medicines and healthcare services recorded the highest increase of 74.13%, followed by education at 18.15%, and other goods and services were 9.9%. 

Over the 9-month period, the price of food has decreased by 2.14% year-on-year, whilst the cost of postal and telecommunication services fell by 0.67% as compared with the same period last year.
