Da Nang hopes to expand Chinese tourism market
Representatives of Da Nang’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism attended the China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2013 in Kunming City between 23 and 28 October.
The event gave Da Nang the opportunity to advertise its tourism image to Chinese and international visitors and travel companies, and to publicise the existing flight routes between Da Nang and China.
There is now one scheduled flight service and 8 charters operating between Da Nang and some of the major cities and provinces of China. Thanks to these, the city has seen a significant increase in the number of Chinese tourists coming to Da Nang over recent years.
In an attempt to attract even more Chinese visitors, the authories of Da Nang and Kunming City are making every effort to promote the re-opening of flights between two localities.
China is considered to be one of the key markets for the local tourism sector. Between January and September, Da Nang has welcomed 102,400 Chinese visitors, the highest number from any one foreign country.
The CITM is the largest professional travel mart in Asia. This year’s event featured 2,200 stands of tourism and aviation service companies from 96 countries and territories worldwide. Furthermore, numerous seminars, exchanges, and talks were held on the sidelines of the event to further promote international tourism cooperation.
