Sustainable growth promotion programme discussed
On Monday, representatives from Da Nang’s Department of Industry and Trade and local relevant agencies discussed the implementation of the 3rd phase of a programme for sustainable urban energy and greenhouse gas emissions planning. The focus will be on implementing the city’s green growth plans. This programme will help the city to promote the deployment of its ideas and to develop its capital allocation plans, as well as introduce its projects which are seeking investment from both domestic and foreign businesses.
Started in 2011, the programme comprises 6 stages with help from some experts from the World Bank. The purpose is to conduct research into energy-saving solutions towards sustainable development, and to provide a consultation service relating to these matters for the city. The aspects involved include water, greenhouse gas emissions management, solid waste, electricity, and transport - especially the new Bus Rapid Transit system.
After implementing the 1st and 2nd phases over the last 2 years, an evaluation of the existing energy use in the city has been made and key ways to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions have been identified.
In addition to taking part in the discussion, experts from the World Bank will work with local relevant agencies to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the city on Thursday 10 October.
