November CPI up only 0.16%
Da Nang’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in November rose by only 0.16% against the previous month. According to the General Statistics Office, this rise was the lowest among those announced for 10 localities across the country.
The highest increase during the month was for eating and drinking services at 0.42%. The price of catering rose by 0.74%, whilst food prices climbed by 0.45%. The food price hike was attributed to the effects of the recent storms and floods in the central region.
In addition, the prices of garments, hats and footwear rose by 0.34%, followed by household appliances at 0.3%. This was attributed to a sharp increase in demand for these products from local residents during the change of season.
Medicines and health care services saw the lowest increase during the month at 0.05%.
Meanwhile, the price of transportation, housing and building materials actually fell when compared with last month. This was because of a decrease in petrol, oil and gas prices during the month.
Over the month, the prices of post and telecommunications remained stable.
