Exports to Chile to enjoy tariff exemptions

From 1 January 2014, Vietnamese products exported to Chile will enjoy tariff exemptions if they meet origin criteria in accordance with the State regulations.

This information was announced on Thursday in Da Nang at a seminar entitled “Introduction about Latin America’s Chilean market”.  The event was co-organised by the city’s branch of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Chilean Embassy in Viet Nam.  Over 50 businesspeople from Da Nang and elsewhere in the central region attended.

Although in 2012 the two-way trade turnover between Chile and Viet Nam reached over 538 million USD, it only accounted for 0.23% of Viet Nam’s total exports.

Between January and November, a total of 12 businesses in the central region have exported products to Chile, worth a total of 214,000 USD.  This indicates that businesses in Da Nang, and the central region as a whole, have not yet paid enough attention to the potential of the Chilean market.
