A discussion on the implementation of Da Nang’s FDI promotion programme for the 2013 - 2016 period took place in the city on Thursday morning.

To date, the city has attracted 240 valid FDI projects worth 3.03 billion USD in total, and a capital disbursement of 1.61 billion USD.  In detail, the investment capital has averaged 12.64 million USD per project.  The majority of the projects focus on real estate, tourism, trade, and industry.

Currently, 30 countries and territories worldwide are investing in the city, mainly from Asia and America.  South Korea takes the lead with its investments accounting for 23.11% of Da Nang’s total FDI capital.  It is followed by the British Virgin Islands (21.51%), Singapore (13.48%), the USA (11.4%), and Japan (10.04%).

Despite positive signs of a recovery in FDI inflows, the number of FDI projects in Da Nang is much lower than that of other provinces and cities nationwide.  In 2010 and 2011, Da Nang was ranked 15th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide for attracting FDI projects.  Last year, the city dropped a place to 16th in the nation’s rankings.

Between 2013 and 2016, Da Nang will strive to reach a target of attracting an additional 1.6 billion USD from FDI projects.  This will help to bring the city’s total FDI to about 4.6 billion USD.
