Local food producers busy making Tet goods
These days leading up to the Tet festival are seeing an increasing demand for essential goods from local residents. As a result, a number of Da Nang’s food producers are now busy increasing their production to ensure sufficient supplies for their customers.
A fish sauce-making establishment in Lien Chieu District’s Nam O Village is a typical example. Its owner, Ms Mai Thi Chuoc, said that her facility expects to receive a lot of orders from some of the local agencies and departments planning gifts for their employees. Therefore, she has been undecided about whether to accept orders for hundreds of bottles of the best fish sauce from her many customers in Ha Noi and Nam Dinh Province.
The village which makes “Banh Kho Me” (dried sesame seed cakes) in Cam Le District is another example. Currently, a dozen producers are busy making the cakes to supply markets and speciality shops across the city and in other localities. In addition, they are working virtually around the clock to ensure there are sufficient supplies for the forthcoming 2014 Spring Fair which will be held at the International Exhibition Fair Centre on Cach Mang Thang Tam Street in January.
Dry spiced beef and instant dried seafood products made from anchovies, skates, amberjacks and cuttlefish are the biggest favourites at Tet. However, producers of these items are facing many difficulties in seeking their raw materials, seeing a doubling of prices compared with last year due to difficulties in catching them.
