Abundance of Tet goods in local markets
Da Nang’s markets are very busy in these days leading up to the Tet Festival, and the volume of goods available is up to 5 times higher than on normal days.
Local slaughter-houses are expected to see a 3-fold increase in their output of poultry and livestock during the last 3 days of the lunar year. In addition, the volume of vegetables and fruit has increased to nearly 5,000 tonnes at the Hoa Cuong wholesale market. At local markets, “cha bo”(grilled beef pate) is now priced at between 270,000 VND and 280,000 VND per kilo, whilst “cha heo” (grilled pork pate) is being sold for between 170,000 VND and 180,000 VND per kilo.

Meanwhile, the prices of some fruits are expected to increase by between 10,000 VND and 20,000 VND per kilo. Oranges are at 40,000 VND per kilo whilst mangos are 50,000 VND. Several traders of fresh foods and dried products have not displayed their prices, which makes it very difficult for local customers to find a bargain.
