Meat to be sold under market price stablisation programme at Tet
According to the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, local businesses and supermarkets have already stored up a wide variety of meat products ready to supply local residents over the Tet Festival at the end of January.
The Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam Industrial Livestock Production Company (VISSAN) has stored 195 tonnes of processed foods, including xuc xich (sausages), lap xuong (Chinese sausages), thit nguoi (cured pork cold cuts), canned pre-cooked meat, and frozen foods. In addition, the An Hai Dong Cooperative has stockpiled 8 tonnes of beef and poultry.
As for some of the city’s largest supermarkets, Metro has already stockpiled 42 tonnes of pork, beef and chicken, Co.op Mart 4 tonnes of beef, Intimex 7 tonnes of chicken, beef and pork, BigC Mall 12 tonnes of beef and other meats, and Lotte Mart 25 tonnes of beef and poultry.
In addition, the city has lent the Dac Vinh Company 4 billion VND at 0% interest to store pork. The meat will then be sold at 10 - 15% below the market price at 13 locations in the city.
The city’s branch of the CP Vietnam Livestock Corporation will supply 6,000 pigs and 30,000 chickens to locals, and they will be sold at 50,000 VND and 45,000 VND per kg respectively.
