City welcomes first international air passengers of Lunar New Year
Silk Air’s MI630 from Singapore to Da Nang, with 119 passengers on board, landed at the Da Nang International Airport at 9.40am on 31 January 2013 (the 1st day of the 1st lunar month). The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to welcome the first international air passengers to set foot in the city on Lunar New Year's Day.
During their stay in the city, the Singaporean guests visited some of the popular local tourist attractions.
2013 saw a significant increase in the number of both air passengers and flights, making a remarkable contribution to the city's tourism revenue.

According to statistics released by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city has so far this year welcomed more than 743,000 international visitors. An estimated 264,200 of them arrived in the city by air, an 80% year-on-year increase. There are now a total of 4 scheduled and 12 charter international routes.
In 2014, Da Nang will attach importance to tapping into international tourism markets through promoting the opening of direct flights between Da Nang and Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand and other foreign countries. This will help make Da Nang an attractive destination for visitors from home and abroad.
The number of tourist arrivals to the city is estimated to reach about 180,000 over the Tet Festival, a 22.4% increase compared with the same period last year. An estimated 58,500 of them are foreigners, a 23.7% increase in comparison with the same period last year, whilst the remainder are domestic visitors, a 21.77% increase.
