Review of services development project
A meeting took place on Thursday to review the city’s implementation of the Services Development Project towards 2015 with a vision to 2020 over the past 2 years.
In an effort to reach its targets for industrialisation and modernisation, Da Nang has shifted its economic structure more towards services, industry and agriculture. In addition, a new focus has been on establishing large-scale and hi-tech businesses to enhance their competitive capacities in both the domestic and international markets. As a result, a Steering Board for the above-mentioned project has been established.

After 2 years of implementation, the city has seen a boom in international cultural events, both domestic and foreign tourist arrivals, and new tourism services. A number of new tourism products are being developed, including the Ngu Hanh Son Cultural and Historical Park, the Asian, Ocean and Bach Thao parks, and the Da Nang Marina complex. Many trade promotion and infrastructure investment programmes have been organised.
Addressing the meeting, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, said that the implementation of the project has helped the city to reach its target of becoming the most dynamic city in the central region and highlands. He added that the project has also made significant contributions to the city’s economic growth and furthered the development of local businesses. This has helped to create jobs for local residents, and improve the living conditions for local people.
He stressed the need for the project to create change in both the quality and quantity of tourism service providers, and to build a brand name for the city's tourism sector.
