The number of tourists arriving in Da Nang over this coming weekend is expected to increase significantly because of International Women’s Day on Saturday (8 March).

According to statistics released by the city’s travel agencies, the number of domestic visitors over the weekend is likely to rise by between 20% and 30% compared with normal days.  They will be offered tours of the area, team-building activities, famtrips and a gala dinner.

So far this year, the local travel companies have welcomed a large number of foreign visitors, including visitors on famtrips to investigate the tourist attractions of the central region.  The purpose of these visits was to launch the 2014 summer tourist season.

In Da Nang, the Son Tra Peninsula, the Marble Mountains, the Linh Ung Pagoda, and the Museum of Cham Sculpture have become the city's most popular tourist attractions for foreign visitors.

It is estimated that up to 70% of hotel rooms in the city centre have already been booked for this weekend, whilst all the rooms in the seaside hotels are likely to be fully occupied.

In an attempt to encourage more visitors to stay longer in the city, many local hotels and eco-tourism areas, including the Ba Na Hills Resort, the Hoa Phu Thanh Resort, and the Son Tra Peninsula, are offering many attractive promotional programmes.  These include discounts on tickets and room rates, and giving gifts and massage vouchers to female customers.
