Southern ring road opens to traffic
To celebrate the 124th birth anniversary of the late Ho Chi Minh (19 May), a ring road on the southern side of Da Nang officially opened to traffic on Monday morning. An opening ceremony was jointly organised by the municipal People’s Committee and the World Bank in Viet Nam (WBVN).
The building of the ring road is part of the city’s Priority Infrastructure Investment Project. The 6.12 km-long, 6-lane road meets the standards of urban minor arterial streets, and the maximum speed for vehicles along it is 70 km per hour. The new road starts from a section of the National Highway 1A in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Phuoc Commune and links with An Dong Street in Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Hai Ward.

Addressing the opening event, Ms Keiko Sato from the WBVN remarked that Da Nang-WB cooperation has proved effective in helping the city to perfect urban transport infrastructure as well as upgrade local residential areas for low-income earners. In addition, she noted that Da Nang is a locality in Viet Nam which effectively uses loans from the WB to implement local basic construction projects. The cooperation between Da Nang and the WB is one of the good examples of successful bilateral cooperation. This effective cooperation model is expected to be expanded to other localities across the country.
