At midday on Monday over 20 offshore fishing boats which had been operating in the Hoang Sa (Paracel) waters were berthed bumper-to-bumper at Da Nang’s Tho Quang fishing wharf.  The vessels’ captains and crew members were busy selling their seafood to the local purchasing companies.

The owner and captain of the QNg 98353 fishing boat, Mr Huynh Deo from Quang Ngai Province’s Duc Pho District, and his 10 crew members were unloading many types of fish, including tuna, grouper and squid, from their boat’s deck.

Mr Lam Xuan Bien from Quang Nam Province’s Thang Binh District said that his boat had returned to shore ahead of schedule because it was being continuously harassed by Chinese ships.  Mr Bien said that his boat brought home over 5 tonnes of fish in total, and his crew members were paid around 2 million VND each.

A representative from the Management Board of the city’s Tho Quang Wharf and Port said that fishing boats have been landing hundreds of tonnes of fish every day despite the warm water conditions.
