Performance of Department of Trade and Industry reviewed
On Tuesday afternoon, the Head of the Economics and Budget Board of the Da Nang People's Council, Mr Mai Duc Loc, met with some representatives of the city’s Department of Trade and Industry to review its performance over the first 6 months of this year.
Between January and June, the city’s industrial production value is expected to show an increase of 9.6% year-on-year, reaching 986.06 million USD or equal to 49.6% of the year’s target. The total value of retail sales of goods and services is expected to have risen by 11.9% year-on-year to 1.833 billion USD, fulfilling 54.4% of the year’s target. Total export turnover of goods and services is likely to climb by 10.1% year-on-year to an estimated 543.5 million USD, representing 47.1% of the year’s target.
With regard to the department’s key tasks for this year, the focus is on building specific trading areas and shopping centres in the city. In addition, effective measures are being taken to build a retail sales network for oil and gas, along with a liquified petroleum production and distribution system by 2020 with a vision to 2030. The city’s project to create pilot markets which ensure food safety for local consumers will be implemented in separate stages.
From now until the end of this year, special attention will be paid to fulfilling these tasks and implementing the city's “Year for Business 2014” programme. The emphasis will also be on taking proactive and flexible measures to adjust the balance of local supply and demand, and carrying out local market price stabilisation programmes. In addition, the department will strive to foster its trade promotion activities in the city, as well as increase its checks and controls over local markets to fight against trade fraud, and the production and trade of counterfeit and faked products.
