Container backlog at Da Nang Port needs to be cleared
According to the Da Nang Customs Department, 663 containers of second-hand tyres are awaiting collection from the Da Nang Port. The bills of lading state that the Chu Lai Float Glass Joint Stock Company (Indevco) in Quang Nam Province is the receiver. Representatives from Indevco have been asked to go to the municipal Customs Department, but they have not yet turned up.
The container backlog is taking up a large area of the port and creating management difficulties for the local customs force. The port now incorporates 2 spacious storage areas. One is where consignments of wood and general goods are stored, whilst the other is the facility where containers are accepted for loading onboard ships, and off-loaded containers are stored before collection by the consignees. Two of the 5 blocks in this area are now occupied by 663 Indevco containers.
The Head of the Customs Division of the port’s Border Gate, Mr Nguyen Quang Lang, said that his unit is responsible for receiving and affixing the seals on these containers after they were imported through the port. Meanwhile, customs declaration papers for the containers had been made at the Customs Division of the Ky Ha Port in Quang Nam Province.
