Denmark supports private businesses

DA NANG Today
Published: August 11, 2014

A workshop recently took place in Da Nang to introduce the city’s private businesses to cooperation and credit support programmes from the Danish government.  Co-organised by the Danish Embassy in Viet Nam and the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event aimed to help promote the development of private businesses in Da Nang and neighbouring provinces.

Under the business credit programme, the city’s businesses will be given loans of between 5 and 50 million euros at zero or low interest rates over a 10-year term to purchase equipment and related services for their projects.  The focus will be on large-scale projects of technical infrastructure development, technology transfer, green growth, and the use of renewable energies combined with national strategies and environmental protection.  Top priority will be given to projects compatible with the strengths of Denmark, including wind and bio-energy, medical equipment, education, and food and garbage treatment.  Borrowers can repay the principal and interest biennially.

As for the business cooperation programme, Denmark will transfer its technology and techniques for local busineses.  The borrowers need to prove that they are in need of loans.  Loans will be granted based on the following process: preliminary selection of borrowers’ documents, choosing their partners, preparing and then implementing their projects.  About 13,415 euros will be given to help a borrower choose their partner and shape their own business ideas.  In addition, around 100,603 euros will be granted for recipients to prepare their projects, and nearly 670,686 euros for their implementation.
