Positive results in tourism
On Thursday, the Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, Mr Nguyen Xuan Anh, and some representatives of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, reviewed the last 2 years of the implementation of a project to boost the city’s services development towards 2015 with a vision to 2020.
Over the period, the city has seen positive results in local tourism including reasonable growth in the number of tourists arriving in the city and the tourism revenue. In particular, there has been a significant increase in the number of foreign visitors because of the opening of new international flights into Da Nang over recent years.
The number of tourist arrivals is expected to hit 4.15 million next year, which will be 3% above that year’s target. Domestic and foreign tourists’ average stay period in the city is expected to be 2 days by the end of this year.
In 2015, the number of 4 and 5-star hotels is expected to rise by about 20%, and the average length of visitor stays in these hotels should be 3 days.
Over the past 2 years, the city’s authorities have made every effort to make Da Nang a city of events and to develop tourism into its spearhead economic sector. The focus has been on upgrading the local tourism infrastructure, as well as diversifying its tourism products. Numerous cultural, tourism and sporting events at national and international levels have been held in the city, and many domestic and foreign investors have invested in the city’s key tourism projects. This has helped to create more local specialised tourism products, as well as make the seaside city more attractive to both domestic and foreign visitors.
