Over the past 40 days, petrol prices have decreased on 5 occasions, yet the prices of goods and passenger transportation remain unchanged.

According to the Viet Nam Automobile Transport Association, transportation prices are only required to be adjusted if petrol prices decrease by over 10%, and so far it has only fallen by less than 9%.

The owner of the Dang Binh Company which operates the Da Nang - Ha Noi bus route, Mr Le Dang Binh, said that between March and June, petrol and oil prices went up by 29% and 20% respectively, but his company did not raise its ticket prices.  In addition, Mr Binh remarked that the 5 recent decreases in petrol prices are not enough for his company to cover its ticket printing and ticket issuing costs, let alone other costs.
