Starting from 1 November, the currently used Mogas 92 petrol will be replaced by E5 bio-fuel, which is a blend of 5% ethanol and 95% petrol, and only Mogas 95 and E5 bio-fuel will be allowed to be sold at filling stations across the city.

The city now has 4 wholesale petrol distributors: Petrolimex Da Nang, the city’s branch of the Central Region’s Petro Vietnam Oil Corporation (PV Oil), the Hoa Khanh General Service and Trading Co Ltd, and the Military Petroleum Corporation Zone 2.  These distributors will all stop supplying Mogas 92 gasoline to local petrol agents, retail outlets and filling stations before 1 November.

Blending 5% ethanol and 95% gasoline to make E5 bio-fuel

The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group will, if necessary, buy back any Mogas 92 which is left in stock from the local wholesale petrol distributors to ensure the shift from the current consumption of Mogas 92 to E5 petrol.

The retail price per litre of E5 bio-fuel is expected to be either equal to or lower than the current price of Mogas 92.
