By the end of October, the Da Nang Taxation Department had conducted inspections of 198 local hotels and restaurants.  Taxes collected from these establishments amounted to 2.58 billion VND, including fines imposed for making false statements in their tax reports.

The Head of the Department, Mr Tran Van Mien, affirmed that this figure is low.  However, the inspections of these hotels and restaurants, along with imposing tough penalties for tax evasion cases, would ensure equity amongst taxpayers as well as tighten the management of tax payments by these hospitality service providers.  This should help to avoid substantial tax collection losses to the city’s budget.
