On Thursday, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Tran Tho and municipal People’s Committee Chairman Van Huu Chien jointly chaired a meeting to assess some planning projects and their architectural designs.

The construction of the new Da Nang Marina complex is now underway, and it will be officially put into use on 29 March 2015.  Developed by the DHC-Marina Joint Stock Investment Company, the project will comprise a trip boat pier and anchorage for boats on the eastern side of the Han River.

Representatives from the project’s developers outlined adjustments to the project’s architectural designs, suggesting that it should now be a 2-storey, multi-functional pier.  The lower level of the pier would be used for receiving the tourist boats, whilst the upper level will be designated for the construction of either a helipad or a 25-storey tower in the shape of a lighthouse.

These suggestions were well received by the city’s leaders who stressed the need to conduct an assessment of the project’s technical designs and its possible impact on national security and defence, along with other evaluations.

Another project, a 22.6m-long, 3m-wide underground pedestrian tunnel, will be built at the intersection of the Vo Nguyen Giap and Hoang Ke Viem streets to meet the needs of tourists and beachgoers.  The city’s leader asked the project’s developer to conduct surveys on the travel demands of local residents and visitors before the start of the project’s construction.
