Following recent approval from the Da Nang authorities, a tourism souvenir design contest will be launched in the city soon.  This information was officially released by the municipal Department of Industry and Trade when it met on Wednesday to review the 2 years of the implementation of the city’s support policies for developing the local tourism souvenirs industry.

The contest aims to encourage local tourism businesses, organisations and individuals to create special tourism souvenirs which feature eye-catching designs and highlighted the distinctive characteristics of the culture, land and people of Da Nang.

Currently, a wide range of souvenirs made from many kinds of materials are being offered to domestic and foreign visitors arriving in the city.  Some of these products have won the trust of the visitors, and they are likely to become the city’s most attractive tourism souvenirs in the years ahead.  However, according to the Department, most of the existing locally-made products have yet to satisfy the diversified tastes of the visitors.  In reality, the city is facing a shortage of souvenirs meeting the requirements of aesthetic characteristics, high durability and convenience.  So far, no local tourism souvenir providers have cooperated with domestic or foreign design consultancy companies to develop their products.
