City building great reputation for seaside tourism

DA NANG Today
Published: January 14, 2015

Over recent years, Da Nang has seen a boom in luxury seaside resorts and hotels offering high-end services.  They are ideal places for both domestic and foreign visitors to enjoy relaxing family vacations, especially the high-income earners from European countries.

The city’s resorts and hotels have consolidated their own brand names, which has helped to further the development of the local tourism sector.

In particular, the 5-star InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort (InterCon) recently won the “World’s Leading Luxury Resort” award at the World Travel Awards Grand Final held in Anguilla on 7 December.  Next, the resort was honoured with 4 awards in various categories at the World Travel Awards Asia and Australasia Gala Ceremony 2014 which was held in India’s New Delhi City on 10 October.  The awards are “Asia's Leading Luxury Resort”, “Asia's Leading Hotel Dining and Entertainment Experience”, “Viet Nam's Leading Resort”, and “Viet Nam's Leading Spa Resort”.  Also in 2014, the InterCon received the “Resorts with the World’s Most Beautiful Space” competition, which was conducted by Russia’s Homedit website.

Meanwhile, in 2014 the Furama Resort Danang was presented with the "Prestigious and Luxurious Brand Name in Hospitality in Central Viet Nam" award for the 14th consecutive year at the 14th Guide Awards gala.  This award was based on a survey of hotels and resorts nationwide, conducted by the Viet Nam Economic Times.

In addition to the above two resorts, other local resorts and hotels, including Vinpearl Luxury, Fusion Maia, Premier Village, Hyatt Regency, Pullman, and Olalani, have welcomed thousands of customers each year.  This has helped to significantly increase the revenue from local tourism, and has allowed the city to build its own brand name for tourism and affirm its position in Viet Nam and the world.

Apart from the increasing number of international-standard seaside resorts and hotels, the opening of new direct flights to Da Nang from several foreign countries has helped the city to attract more visitors.  There are now a total of 8 scheduled and 10 charter international routes.

In 2015, a wide range of large-scale cultural events will take place across the city and, as a result, the city’s target is to welcome 4,150,000 visitors, up 9.2% year-on-year.
