Over recent years, Da Nang been successful in improving the skills of local tour guides.  This has helped to satisfy the increasing demands of both domestic and foreign tourists arriving in the city, especially the sharp rise in visitor numbers from the city’s new tourist markets.

The city now has 1,612 tour guides, of whom 916 can speak a foreign language fluently.  This is one of the city’s strengths for promoting the development of the local tourism sector.

In particular, the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has provided local tour guides with many short-term training courses in order to help them improve their professional skills.

Visitor satisfaction surveys about the quality of the local tour guides have been conducted in the departure lounge at Da Nang International Airport.  The majority of the surveyed domestic and foreign visitors said that they were fully satisfied with the professional skills of their local tour guides, as well as their attitude towards clients.

Under the Department’s regulations, guides for tour groups are required to collect feedback from their clients about the hospitality and transport services of their travel agencies, as well as their behaviour.

The Head of the city’s Tour Guide Group, Mr Tran Ha, remarked that visitor satisfaction surveys about the quality of the local guiding services will help local tour guides to promote their strengths and remedy their shortcomings in order to give better service to their customers in the future.
