Ngu Hanh Son District sees changes in livelihoods
The expansion of urban spaces in Da Nang’s Ngu Hanh Son District over the past 10 years has reduced agricultural land from over 1,500ha to only around 160ha today. As a result, many of the local farmers have taken the initiative to shift from their previous agricultural production to trading and service activities.
Currently, the district is home to numerous trading and service areas which have helped many local families to become rich quickly.
In addition, the district’s Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village has seen an up to 3-fold increase in the number of stone carvers from about 300 carvers years ago.

However, hundreds of other families have yet to change and are now taking advantage of vacant land lots to grow a variety of vegetables, flowers and ornamental plants for sale. Currently, the district has 250 clean and safe vegetable growers on a total of 70ha of land, supplying thousands of tonnes of vegetables to the local markets every year. This helps them to earn a total of over 7 billion VND per year from the sale of vegetables. In addition, the district is home to 37 flower growers, 28 ornamental plant growers, 70 mushroom producers, and hundreds of livestock and poultry breeders.
