At 8.30am on 1 January, the first containers of 2015 were loaded onto the Singapore-registered cargo ship Wan Hai, docked at Da Nang Port, ready for transportation to the Port of Kaohsiung in Taiwan.

Also on the first day of the New Year, the port welcomed the Trung Hung 09 and the Hung Manh 18 cargo ships.  A total of over 5,000 tonnes of iron and steel and other building material products, along with roofing rolls, were unloaded from the 2 ships.

In 2014, the total volume of cargo transported through Da Nang Port broke all records at over 6.02 million tonnes, up 20.19% year-on-year and 9.5% above target.  The volume of containerised cargo has risen significantly by 36.5% year-on-year to 227,340 TEUs.  This has helped the port to earn about 450 billion VND in revenue, the highest total ever recorded by the port, up 13% year-on-year and 5.6% above target.
